Montessori with a Mission
The Kennedy Heights Montessori Center (KHMC) was founded in 1965 by a group of neighborhood residents wishing to provide a beneficial pre-school experience for their young children. The school was organized as a parent co-operative with a philosophy and curriculum based on principles developed by Maria Montessori.
Commitment to Educational Equality
Our primary goal is to create a cost efficient multicultural learning environment for both children and their parents. Since its earliest days, KHMC has had a strong commitment to a racially and economically diverse student body with an emphasis on providing families with children a superior educational opportunity in a supportive environment. This commitment to diversity and desire for inclusion has led KHMC to develop an extended day program, before and after school to accommodate working parents.
Our goals are to assist parents in the understanding of a child’s development and to act as a resource for those in the community responsible for the education of young children. Many of our students live in the communities nearby the school including Kennedy Heights, Pleasant Ridge, Silverton, Deer Park, Fairfax, and Golf Manor, but we also have students from other regions of the city including Northside, West Chester, St. Bernard, and Blue Ash.
Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a high-quality, nurturing environment that provides children the foundation for learning guided by the Montessori philosophy. Our goal is to enable each child to develop independence, a sense of belonging, self awareness, and respect for self and others. Kennedy Heights Montessori Center strives to reflect the diversity of Kennedy Heights and its surrounding communities.
KHMC is a United Way agency and a highly rated Step Up To Quality School.
In keeping with the principles and teaching of Maria Montessori, KHMC has adopted the following core values to guide behavior among students, parents and staff:
